Proper emergence profile design supports esthetic outcomes and provides favorable biological response to implant-supported restorations.
Following the “Esthetical Biological Contour Concept“ (EBC), the development of natural-looking emergence profiles will comply with the functional, biological, and esthetic requirements with immediately loaded implants and a fully digital workflow.
The impact of a conical connection with integrated platform shift on the emergence profile and 3D positioning of the implant will be equally addressed. All pre-conditions must be considered in order to achieve predictability and long-term stability of the implant.
This content will be explained based on scientific evidence and step-by-step visualization of the treatment protocols that can be implemented in your daily practice.
The goal is to explain the diagnosis and digital protocol along with the prosthetic and periodontal planification, in order to get ideal emergence profiles, avoiding the use of hybrid dentures if possible.
We emphasize the importance of soft tissue grafts to get esthetic and stable results and the efficiency and predictability of the results with the use of digital planning from the diagnosis to the treatment execution.

When reconstructing the maxilla in partly or totally edentulous patients, there are some alternative treatments that should be taken into consideration. Insufficient bone volume in the posterior maxilla is not in itself an indication for performing a lateral window maxillary sinus augmentation without considering available alternatives. Careful evaluation of the possible alternatives is mandatory for all patients who, due to general health conditions, pathologies of the maxillary sinus, advanced age, or psychological reasons, cannot undergo invasive surgery. With regards to the clinical condition, there are different treatments that have been proposed as alternatives to lateral window sinus augmentation:
The lecture will address the pros and cons of the different therapeutic alternatives in an evidence based approach.

Dr. Robert Stanley’s professional career began as a Mechanical & Aerospace engineer, providing him with a unique ability to master and share his understanding of biomechanics as it applies to dental implants. Dr. Stanley is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. He is now known as The Smile Engineer and practices with his wife Bobbi Stanley in Cary, North Carolina. Dr. Stanley has extensive experience in implant surgery, as well as advanced bone and soft tissue grafting. His implementation of CBCT technology with guided dental implant surgery and guided sinus lift surgery makes planning and placing dental implants predictable and successful. Dr. Stanley is co-founder of the Stanley Institute which provides numerous training courses on grafting and implant placement. He uses his unique background in engineering and dentistry to help dentists painlessly master 3 key components of implantology: planning, placement, and prosthetics.
