The goal of the course is to share more of 20 years of experience using mucogingival techniques as a daily routine, not just in periodontal patients, but as a useful tool to achieve excellence in multidisciplinary rehabilitation, implantology and bone regeneration.

 

We will review not only short-term results, but cases dated more than 10 years, and observe the biological response of tissues in order to get conclusions, useful for our clinical practice.

 

We will also describe, step by step, the immediate implant technique after extraction with immediate temporary restoration, published by the author, and will discuss when is suitable the immediate or the delayed implant approach.

DR. RAMON GOMEZ MEDA

  • Degree in Dentistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela.
  • Thesis Award of the Autonomous Community of Galicia for Academic Excellence.
  • Postgraduate training in Periodontics and Implantology (Madrid), Occlusion and Temporo-mandibular Dysfunction (Valencia) and Orthodontics (University of Santiago de Compostela).
  • International speaker on Periodontics, Aesthetics Dentistry and Multidisciplinary Treatments.
  • Adjunct Assistant Professor of the Department of Prosthodontics at LSUHSC School of Dentistry (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA).
  • Founder of MEDA Training Centre, Spain.

Program

Day 1

Morning:

  • Current situation of the implantology: the more frequent aesthetic complications and how to prevent them.
  • Mucogingival surgery techniques applied to implantology: long term results.
  • Different approaches: delayed implants, immediate implants with and without temporary restoration.
  • Socket preservation: when, how and why?
  • Immediate implants in infected sites: protocol.
  • Immediate implants vs delayed: advantages and disadvantages; technique selection criteria.
  • Alternatives to the immediate implant.

Afternoon

  • Bone regeneration in post-extraction implants.
  • Soft tissue graft in post-extraction implants.
  • Pontic site reconstruction.
  • Digital protocol: scanning and milling the provisional.

Day 2

Morning:

  • Immediate implants: Different clinical situations; advantages and disadvantages; minimalist approach.
  • Surgical technique and drilling protocol.
  • Immediate temporary restoration.
  • The 3-step technique by Dr. Meda: step by step protocol including videos; limitations to the technique.
  • Keeping and creating the emergence profile: customised healing cup; the EBC concept!

Afternoon

Hands on:
  • Tunnelled connective tissue graft in pig jaw.
  • Construction of the emergency profile.
